The Journey~
Yoga in the Gallery began with my own journey
into the practice of yoga! I had been curious
about yoga for a long time, but never got the
courage to step into a class! That is, until my
dear friend, Lauren Verzilli asked to begin teaching
some classes in the gallery! I have to admit, I was a
little skeptical and first, but after some thought,
decided to give it a go! Since that time, yoga has
been a constant in my life! It has healed me physically,
mentally and spiritually! If you let it, yoga will reach
into the deepest parts of your soul and revive you!
When I began yoga, I was struggling with some knee pain!
I had been to an orthopedic doctor, had x-rays and an MRI,
but was given no definite diagnosis.
I faithfully attended
therapy sessions with no relief and was scheduled for surgery
to clean
it out! It was possible that I had a torn meniscus
or arthritis buildup, but nothing was for sure!
I began to go to yoga a couple of times a week. I couldn't get into
child's pose or any poses that required me to kneel or put any pressure
on my knees. I was careful to rest during times when my knees screamed
at me! Little by little, I began to notice some change and I cancelled
my surgery.
When I began my teacher training in 2016, my knees still
weren't perfect, but I was determined! I completed my 200 hour YTT
with Melissa Sebes at PurYoga in Boardman and I still practice there
when time allows. Today, my knees are great! It's amazing what healing
powers we carry within our own mind, body and soul! I hope that you will
have the courage to step into a class and onto your mat! The first step is
ALWAYS the hardest, but you won't regret it!
